Eric P. Hofmeister, MD

Dr. Eric P. Hofmeister, M.D., is a distinguished Orthopedic Surgeon and Upper Extremity Specialist with a career marked by extensive military service, academic leadership, and clinical excellence.

He earned his Baccalaureate in Biochemistry from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, in 1989. He then received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, in 1993. Following a transitional internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, he completed his residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego in 2001. Dr. Hofmeister further specialized his training with a fellowship in Hand/Upper Extremity/Micro Surgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center, Thomas Jefferson Medical School, from 2001-2002.

A retired Navy Captain, Dr. Hofmeister's military service included roles as Department Head, Director of Surgical Services, Specialty Leader, and the Orthopedic Surgeon on multiple deployments, including two deployments to Iraq. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery (since 2004) and holds a Certification of Additional Qualifications in Hand Surgery (since 2005).

Dr. Hofmeister is dedicated to delivering top-quality medical care on an individual basis. His philosophy of educating and including the patient in all aspects of their care has led to outstanding results with an incredibly low complication rate.

He is an editor for multiple peer-reviewed orthopedic journals, an instructor for many courses, and has held multiple positions in national orthopedic societies. He has authored a plethora of scientific articles and presented at several national meetings. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He joined Synergy Orthopedic Specialists, Inc. in 2016.
