Dr. Emma Huerter's interest in optometry started in high school when she observed an optometrist who detected signs of systemic disease during a routine eye exam, an experience that showed her the important role eye care providers play in protecting both vision and general health. Following this experience she went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa.

Dr. Emma Huerter is an optometrist with a strong foundation in comprehensive eye care, ocular disease management, and specialty contact lenses. Her interest in optometry started in high school when she observed an optometrist who detected signs of systemic disease during a routine eye exam, an experience that showed her the important role eye care providers play in protecting both vision and general health. Following this experience she went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa.
Originally from Iowa, Dr. Huerter relocated to Florida to pursue her optometric education and quickly fell in love with the sunshine and beautiful beaches. After completing an externship at Tyson Eye and graduating from Nova Southeastern University, she chose to make Florida her permanent home and is proud to serve the Southwest Florida community with their ocular health needs.
Dr. Huerter enjoys building lasting relationships with her patients and is committed to providing a welcoming and comfortable experience for individuals and families of all ages. Outside the office, she enjoys exploring new restaurants, playing pickleball & tennis, boating, reading, and relaxing on the beach. Dr. Huerter is licensed to practice optometry in Florida, Iowa, and Missouri.

Called at 9am...got 9:45 appt....saw me at that time...checked me out for any and all possibilities, sent prescription..out and on my way...on time,thorough....what more can you ask for!

This is what happens when you see an experienced provider! Emma knew right away what my issue was and arranged for me to see an MD there to correct the problem. Was very frustrating seeing doctor after doctor with no solution. Thank you Emma!
