Dr. Fernandez was born in Cuba. His early education was in Havana, Cuba and attended the Universidad de Ciencias Medicas de La Habana. After graduating, he spent 2 years in service in Guantanamo. He returned to Havana to do his residency in Family Medicine which lasted 4 years. He then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked there for a few years and moved to Miami and worked as an ER tech until he took the USMLE tests and then moved to Arkansas and completed residency with the AHEC Scholars Program at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. Fernandez then got a job as a hospitalist and worked there for a few years and moved to Boynton Beach, Florida and was a hospitalist until he came to work for the team at MSPB! Dr. Emilio Fernandez has joined the offices of MSPB Internal Medicine physician Dr. Jose Ojea and MSPB Internal Medicine physician Dr. Daniella Ostrovsky as of September 2022. Dr. Fernandez loves to spend time with his family, read books, and listen to music in his free time.
