Dr. Emil Shieh, M.D., is a highly experienced and accomplished comprehensive ophthalmologist, now serving patients at North Bay Eye Associates in the Sonoma County area for over 20 years.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in Providence, RI, and his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University in New York, NY. Dr. Shieh completed his internship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA, and his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Shieh is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds a State of California medical licensure. Prior to joining North Bay Eye, he practiced at Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center, where he performed an impressive over 6000 cataract surgeries. He is also a sub-investigator for the North Bay Eye Associates Clinical Research Department, contributing to advancements in ophthalmology.
His notable accomplishments include the Edith and Denton McKane Award for research in Ophthalmology from Columbia University, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship at Harvard University, and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Excellent, informative doctor who really understands my conditions.
1) I waited nearly 90 minutes for my appointment. 2) He didn't listen well and kept asking me the same questions. 3) I explained who I needed to see to the front desk when I scheduled the appointment and it was for a different doctor. I waited weeks and weeks for this appointment which felt pretty much like a waste of time.
Very awesome, thorough and kind man
Dr. Shieh was very informative and provided us with the information we needed. He is very understanding and wants to make sure his patients receive the right care.
I appreciate how he communicates. He is always willing to discuss the pros and cons of each things we do. Eye surgery, contacts etc.
On time , explains all, listens well
