Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole, M.D., is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon with dual fellowship training in Ophthalmic Pathology and Vitreoretinal Surgery. Originally from San Antonio, she earned her medical degree and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, training at one of the nation’s busiest trauma centers. She completed a pathology fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital and an elite two-year surgical retina fellowship at the OHSU Casey Eye Institute.

Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole, M.D., is originally from San Antonio, TX. She completed her B.A. in Music at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. She then completed medical school and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, where she was fortunate to get to work at one of the busiest trauma centers in the country. Following residency, she completed an ophthalmic pathology fellowship in Houston, followed by a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at OHSU Casey Eye Institute.
Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2017 and 2025 by Portland Monthly Magazine.

I felt the staff was friendly and experienced. I only wish the doctor had been a little more open with some feedback. But she was great otherwise.
Impressive presence and care of my eye and me. She was very busy and overdue on my appointment. However, Dr Verber-Cole made me instantly confident I would be tended to and the administration of the injection in my eye was quick and painless. Impressive. Thank you.

She was personable and gave concise explanation of problem. Computer was down so unable to get imaging needed. Will get that at next appointment in 2 months.
