Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole, M.D., is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon with dual fellowship training in Ophthalmic Pathology and Vitreoretinal Surgery. Originally from San Antonio, she earned her medical degree and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, training at one of the nation’s busiest trauma centers. She completed a pathology fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital and an elite two-year surgical retina fellowship at the OHSU Casey Eye Institute.

Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole, M.D., is originally from San Antonio, TX. She completed her B.A. in Music at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. She then completed medical school and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, where she was fortunate to get to work at one of the busiest trauma centers in the country. Following residency, she completed an ophthalmic pathology fellowship in Houston, followed by a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at OHSU Casey Eye Institute.
Dr. Elizabeth Verner-Cole was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2017 and 2025 by Portland Monthly Magazine.
