Dr. Elizabeth K. Donohue, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist with expertise in glaucoma management and the aging eye.
“I focus on patient-centered long-term care by establishing connections with my patients and their families. I put empathy and compassion at the forefront of my work, providing state-of-the-art eyecare, with the goal of helping my patients grow old gracefully.”
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish cum laude from Hamilton College, Dr. Donohue graduated summa cum laude from the SUNY Upstate Medical Center. There, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She did her Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, where she completed a fellowship in glaucoma, in conjunction with the Chicago Eye Institute. Dr. Donohue has been practicing glaucoma and general ophthalmology in the Portland metro area for over 25 years. Although she no longer performs incisional surgery, she stays up to date on the cutting edge of glaucoma treatments and is an active laser surgeon.
Dr. Donohue believes in the importance of community service. Throughout her life in Portland, she had volunteered with Portland Public Schools, coached sports teams, and administered a youth girls lacrosse association, had management roles in scouting, and was involved in leadership in both her homeowner’s association and her local children’s care association. She wrote, received, and implemented a grant to improve water quality in the Tryon Creek watershed.
Her most enduring non-professional passion is to support girls’ and women’s lacrosse on all levels. She officiates the game from the youth to the collegiate level, as well as volunteers on the local board as the Registrar. Mentoring youth officials has been a source of great satisfaction for her. She is also the USA Lacrosse Women’s Officials, Oregon State Coordinator. She values the diverse lacrosse community.
In her free time, she is passionate about biking, hiking, knitting and needlework, and cooking food from her abundant garden. She is inspired by her close-knit family and the deep relationships with her family and friends.
