Eli Bunzel, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in Spine Surgery. A New York native, he earned his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College, then his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He went on to complete his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Washington, where he was selected to be an administrative chief resident. He then received subspecialty training in Spine Surgery at NYU Langone Health, a renowned program for training in cutting-edge techniques including cervical and lumbar disc replacement, endoscopic surgery, robotic surgery and deformity correction in both children and adults.
Dr. Bunzel has contributed to a substantial body of Orthopedic Spine and Trauma literature. His research has been recognized nationally: he is a winner of the Best Abstract award at the Washington State Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting, and recipient of the Kimberly Furry, MD Donor Resident Award for Top Paper from the Western Orthopaedic Association. His research has been presented in numerous national and international meetings.
Dr. Bunzel feels strongly that surgery should only be considered once all non-operative treatments have failed, and that the decision to undergo surgery should be made as a team. He is dedicated to creating a treatment plan personalized to his patient’s individual goals, relieving their pain and getting them back to doing what they love.
Outside of work Dr. Bunzel enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking, running, skiing and golfing. He fell in love with the Pacific Northwest during residency and is honored to be able to return to Washington and serve this incredible community.
