Dr. Eddy Echols is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He received his undergraduate training at the United States Naval Academy and attained his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Echols performed his orthopedic surgery residency at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and completed a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute. He was a four-year recipient of both the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship and the Southeastern Regional Education Board Scholarship.
Dr. Echols has authored research publications and presentations in the areas of hand, elbow, and Achilles tendon ruptures. He continues to be actively involved in research.
Prior to joining Florida Orthopaedic Institute, Dr. Echols served on active duty in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Commander. Dr. Echols performed a tour of duty in Iraq where he served as the Officer-in-Charge of a Forward Deployed Surgical Resuscitative Unit. Upon his return from Iraq, Dr. Echols served as the Head of Orthopedics at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune.

Staff could do better job of letting waiting patients if he was running behind. Waited 1.25 hrs before being called back to waiting room. Dr. Was pleasant and informative. Answered all my questions.
I had a terrible experience I waited 15 minutes in the lobby and over a half an hour in the room he did not want to give me a Cortizone shot which I needed it I did I had to convince him to give it to me I’ll never go back to him and the nurse assistant was terrible I had to say did they forget about me sent me in the room over a half an hourVery bad experience I would try to look in the net work and go somewhere else

Very nice and friendly
I went in wanting relief for pain, thinking like a steroid shot. Dr recommended physical therapy, said long term, shot would increase arthritis. I told my mom that. She agreed that he is honest and a good Dr.
