Dr. Mahoney is obviously an excellent Dr., but seems nervous when talking with patients. Probably because he's so busy...Nonetheless, I didn't know if our consult was over when he left the room because he had no closing remarks or advice to give. I felt as if I should have received more of a summary or at least a "Goodbye, have a nice day." Did he return to the room expecting me to be there? Did I leave too soon?Does he recommend a higher dose of vitamin supplements to take?

I was needing his knowledge & experience, but got a presumptuous ego and condescending reaction instead. He might be a great surgeon, but I got treated as a case not worth his attention, or even common respect. As if I was making it all up. He may have been having a bad day but it's completely inappropriate and unprofessional, to act as he did. He ended by walking out, with no clue given for a next-step. Had suggested an injection. But where - along the whole spine? Being not just one, but many points? For a spinal specialist to deny that symptoms at one end of the spine are related to the other - seemed more likely he's already decided not to believe or hear the case. I waited a week before writing this,to see if he'd reply to a relevant question via the patient portal. No reply. An unassociated PA had told me, "of course, surgeons tend to be arrogant...". But in my last 3 experiences with surgeons, that was NOT the case. This was my first. I'm lost for what to do next.

Dr Mahoney may be a great dr but being that we were asked to BE there 15 minutes BEFORE our appt, which we were, then sat in waiting room for 45 minutes then in room for 30 minutes before seeing the dr, we were extremely frustrated!

Dr Mahoney was there by telephone or scheduled appointments for ally care before and after my surgery. He made sure I was fully recovered before he released me from his care. Also told me if anything else came up to contact him. One of the best surgeons and Dr's I have had. Thank you Dr Mahoney

My appointment was for 340 I did not see my provider until well after 530. At 5 o’clock I asked someone if the office was closing if we were forgotten. No, the doctor had a deposition. He came in showed me my X-ray and said I had extensive arthritis. Ordered an MRI

10 months post fusion and he is still totally committed (to you) when he is in the room. Explains everything - options, procedures, diagnostic's etc. Reviews past reports and notes. Asks questions to be sure he understands. Personable yet professional. This is one terrific Doctor!
