Dr. Mathews graduated from Bluffton University with honors in Biology and Chemistry. He worked his way through his undergraduate studies as an orderly in the operating room at Blanchard Valley Hospital where he was first introduced to and developed an interest in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Mathews went on to earn his medical degree from Ohio University and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Ohio Orthopaedic Society.

Had cat scan today 1-20-25 was told I needed follow up at least by this Fri went to front desk to schedule it said dr mathews couldn't see me till next Fri this is Abad break of my femur in right knee said was going to need surgery I was surprised to learn I have to wait that long for followup appt on results of cat scan

Doctor Mathews did an awesome job with my knee replacement. Not only a great Doc but also a great person to know.

Dr. Mathews is excited to return home and provide excellent orthopaedic care to the community. He enjoys spending time with family, hunting, fishing and is an active member of his local church. He currently resides in Findlay with his wife, Abbie."
