Dr. Mathews graduated from Bluffton University with honors in Biology and Chemistry. He worked his way through his undergraduate studies as an orderly in the operating room at Blanchard Valley Hospital where he was first introduced to and developed an interest in orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Mathews went on to earn his medical degree from Ohio University and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Ohio Orthopaedic Society.

He takes time to listen even when you can clearly tell he is extremely busy.
He is mastered in what he does.
My (knee replacement) incision is clean and precise.
