Dr. Spriggs was born and raised in Ohio, and completed his undergrad studies at Miami University of Ohio, and Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and received a BA degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Spriggs earned his medical degree at Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, and completed his residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital/The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Spriggs was the recipient of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation Fellowship Award. He completed a one year research fellowship at the University of Leuven, Center for Thrombosis and Vascular Research in Leuven, Belgium. He then returned to the US and completed his cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan Hospitals/ University of Michigan, and his interventional cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, MI. Dr. Spriggs joined Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants in July 1991. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. An active participant/principal investigator in many cardiac clinical research trials conducted by our research department, Dr. Spriggs has co-authored several articles in the medical journals on the results of these clinical studies. Dr. Spriggs is an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Spriggs performed the first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure in the Tampa Bay area and is one of a few select cardiovascular specialists who make up the multidisciplinary team who perform this procedure at Morton Plant Hospital. Dr. Spriggs is available to see patients at the Clearwater and Bardmoor offices.
