Dr. Donnell McDonald, M.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who recently joined Advanced Orthopedic Center. Dr. McDonald specializes in treating a wide range of spinal conditions with both surgical and non-surgical techniques. His main priority is providing patient centered care that improves his patient’s quality of life.
His specialties include minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, degenerative spinal disorders, AI-driven custom 3D printed implants, artificial lumbar/cervical disc replacement, sacroiliac joint dysfunction and fusion, and lateral and anterior spinal surgery. He has a strong interest in utilizing robotic and image-guided technology to enhance precision and safety in spine surgery.
His research has been featured in several peer-reviewed publications and national presentations. Outside of work, Dr. McDonald is passionate about giving back through community service and mentoring. He enjoys spending time with his spouse and two children, traveling, visiting museums, and watching FSU and Miami Dolphins football.

Dr McDonald was attentive and thoroughly explained the MRI results to me. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. He also provided some alternative treatments to help me manage pain. I was pleased with the visit & would see him again.

Highly skilled professional
This was one of the best doctor’s appointments I’ve had in a long time. The entire office was amazing from Kayla the receptionist (and the trainee), to Kelly the nurse, to Wilson the xray tech and to Dr McDonald. They were efficient, super friendly, knowledgeable and super sweet. Dr McDonald did not push unnecessary meds or testing. He was very personable and knowledgeable! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Could be higher we are not finished
I was not happy, I did not get answers on what treatment would help me. He did not even look at me when I was talking to him, he was just looking at the computer the whole time. Then he said I should go back to see the Dr that referred me to him. I told him that Dr. send me to him so I was confused. Last he left the room and said he will ask the nurse if the test he had ordered came in. But he never came back to tell me what the plan was. Finally the nurse came in and said I was all set to leave. I was puzzled because the Dr never came back to tell me what was next step. We told the nurse to at least order physical therapy, and she said she will order it, and to come back to see Dr. McDonald in 2 months. All I wanted was some kind of relief.
