Nobody ever wants to have a “complication occur” when they have hip replacement surgery. When it happened to me I was very grateful that I was working with Dr. Van Nielen and his team at Everett Bone and Joint. Dr. Van Nielen told me very early on that once he did surgery on a patient, he felt an obligation to see them through the entire process, and he lived up to that statement. He communicated with me very directly and kept me informed of his concerns the entire way. We made decisions on the next steps together when this older arthritic body wasn’t quite reacting the way it should. He texted me over the holiday weekend to check on my progress, had his team take care of me while he was in surgery or out of the office (thanks Mikaela!) and showed both confidence and empathy through the entire process. And now I’m enjoying pain-free walks with my new hip and making plans to go camping. I owe a big debt of gratitude to Dr. Van Nielen and the entire Everett Bone and Joint team!

I like Dr. Van Nielen. He's very understanding and asks if I have any questions, he takes his time with me and doesn't rush even if he's running behind schedule, he's kind, polite, thorough, and very helpful.

I was extremely tired of the pain in my hip because of severe arthritis. I had a negative experience years ago and I really didn't want to have the surgery. This provider was new to the area and just starting his practice in Washington. Because he was new, it was a shorter wait time for the procedure. I am very happy I made the decision to have this physician do my procedure. He is very kind, very thorough and very good about answering any question you might have.

Dr Dom showed me respect as I worked with alternative treatment options before succumbing to surgery. I appreciate his confidence, competence, & compassion. One month out from surgery and am walking and continue making progress daily.

I really like this Dr. No b.s. tells you how and what to expect with your treatment. Honestly I'm not looking Forward to a knee replacement ,but just talking with him has put me at ease. Dr. Van Nielen's explanation of the condition of my hips in the x-rays was very interesting and helpful. More importantly, the results of the cortisone shot in my right hip bursa far exceeded my expectations, and even my hopes. Not only did the cortisone shot relieve the pain in my hip, it completely stopped aches and pains in my right knee. I had been limping around on that knee for months and the pain is now completely gone! I don't know how long the effect will last, but I'm extremely grateful for whatever time of relief I get. In the meantime, Go Navy, Beat Army!
