Dr. Dixon Xu, D.P.M., is a podiatric surgeon with specialization in foot and ankle trauma, reconstructions, limb salvage, and sports medicine. He employs both evidence-based surgical and medical methods in treating injuries and ailments of the lower extremities.
Dr. Xu earned his bachelor's degree with double majors in Biochemistry and Spanish while attending Cornell College on the presidential scholarship. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter while studying abroad in Guatemala. He later received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was inducted into the national Pi Delta honor society while in school while earning academic awards for top student in six subject areas. He later received the Michael L. Stone Award for Outstanding Professional Conduct and was recognized at the national American College of Foot & Surgeon Scientific Conference in 2017.
Dr. Xu then returned to sunny southern California and finished his internship and residency training at Scripps Mercy and Scripps Green Hospitals. He spent the last year of his residency dedicated to lower extremity trauma and reconstruction surgeries at Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Valley.
Dr. Xu is well published and is the lead author on four peer-reviewed scientific articles. He also contributed to the book chapter on bunion surgeries. He presented his research at the Podiatry Institute seminars and the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) national meetings.
Dr. Xu lives in Chula Vista with his wife, son, and three cats. He enjoys graphic design, photography, and hiking in his spare time.
