Dr. Cohen graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, where he helped address the behavioral health needs of veterans, and later at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he coordinated clinical research studies focused on sickle cell disease. He earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital before completing his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently pursued fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, where he helped run the historic Bendheim Retina Center, one of New York's oldest and largest referral centers for complex retinal disease.
Dr. Cohen's research has focused on a broad range of retinal and ophthalmic conditions, including retinal detachment, retinopathy of prematurity, diabetic retinopathy, and inherited and inflammatory retinal disorders. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented his research at national ophthalmology meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the American Medical Association.
Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Dr. Cohen is excited to practice in northern New Jersey, allowing him to remain close to his hometown while also being near New York City. He and his wife welcomed their daughter in July 2026. Outside of work, he enjoys basketball, running, and traveling with his family.
