Derrick Wang, M.D.

Dr. Derrick Wang, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and anterior segment surgery.

Dr. Wang earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Cornell University and his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine. During medical school, he completed a research fellowship at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute, where he contributed to numerous publications involving advanced retinal imaging and retinal disease.

He completed his Internal Medicine internship and Ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University. During residency, Dr. Wang received the Resident Academic Distinction Award after scoring in the 97th percentile nationally on the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) examination among residents at his level of training.

Dr. Wang then completed a Glaucoma Fellowship at the USC Roski Eye Institute within the Keck School of Medicine of USC, receiving advanced training in complex cataract surgery, glaucoma management, MIGS, and anterior segment surgery. He was also recognized with the Resident Teaching Award for Clinical Fellow for his commitment to resident education and mentorship.

Dr. Wang is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care using advanced surgical techniques and individualized treatment plans to preserve and restore vision. Outside of ophthalmology, he enjoys sports, strength training, dragon boating, spending time with his wife and dog, Ruffles, and exploring new restaurants and cuisines.
