Dr. Derick G. Holt, M.D. is a partner at EYE-Q. He specializes in comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology, treating a wide spectrum of eye disorders affecting children of all ages, from newborn infants to teenagers. His practice also includes the evaluation and treatment of adult strabismus.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah, where he graduated magna cum laude in both chemistry and biology, Dr. Holt earned his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Holt then went on to complete his Ph.D. in oncological sciences at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. He completed his residency training at the Moran Eye Center, where he received the Resident Research Award and was one of four trainees in the nation selected to participate in the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Resident and Fellow Research Forum. Holt went on to receive fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the prestigious Vanderbilt Eye Institute and Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Holt is an active community member. During his residency, he provided clinical and surgical eye care to the underserved in the Salt Lake City area. Holt recently traveled to Guatemala City to provide eye care at a pediatric surgical center. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and looks forward to discovering what the Central Valley has to offer.

Knowledgeable but only saw him for two minutes and waited 2 HOURS after dilation to see him. The whole appointment took 3 and a half hours.

Everyone is so pleasant there
First of all, there’s VERY limited pediatric ophthalmology services in the Central Valley, so what a blessing his practice is. But also he’s so kind and really makes my kid feel comfortable.
An excellent doctor!
We are so lucky to be his patients. I will never have to worry my daughter is not getting the care she needs. He is exceptional, amazing with children- talks to them like they are his equals. He is unique, and having him as my child’s doctor is a privilege because everywhere else I never fully trusted the process. With him and his team you just have the confidence all is at the highest possible level.
First visit with him and he was such a great experience. He’s such a wonderful doctor. Staff and himself were very friendly. Highly recommend Dr.Holt.
The wait time has been so much better since moving to their new facility
Dr. Holt has great bedside manner. We love having our annual visits at his office. Thank you for all your dedication to the smallest of patients.
He is amazing. His staff is great. All three of my kids see him my oldest has been seeing him since he was 5 and now is 15. Yes it’s a long wait but he takes his time with each patient and makes sure nothing is missed.
