Dr. Derek M. Klavas is a native of Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and Certificates in International Engineering and Biological Engineering. He went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Klavas is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in both operative and non-operative treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas where he took care of members of the Houston Astros and Houston Texans professional sports teams. Thereafter he completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois where he served as a company physician for Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet. He is an active member within the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, Texas Orthopaedic Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
When Dr. Klavas is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife Erin (Fibbe) Klavas and their golden retriever Kirby. Together they enjoy spending time at the beach and watching college football.
