Dr. Derek M. Klavas is a native of Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and Certificates in International Engineering and Biological Engineering. He went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Klavas is a fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in both operative and non-operative treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas where he took care of members of the Houston Astros and Houston Texans professional sports teams. Thereafter he completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois where he served as a company physician for Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet. He is an active member within the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, Texas Orthopaedic Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
When Dr. Klavas is not treating patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife Erin (Fibbe) Klavas and their golden retriever Kirby. Together they enjoy spending time at the beach and watching college football.

Awesome doctor. Took time with me and explained my options throughly. You can tell he knows his stuff! I will be going back to him.
Dr klavas did my calcaneus surgery and he was amazing to deal with . He was great to deal with he did an amazing job with the surgery. He operated on July 15 and im already able to do partial weight bearing with the walking boot on September 23rd . He's really good at what he does and he genuinely cares about his patients.
Very limited waiting periods
He was very professional but I find your $100 no show fee and sign warning patients to behave or be thrown out to be hypocritical given I waited an hour and a half for a less than 10 minute appointment - very disrespectful to you patients
