Took time off work, paid for appointment, and went through dilation only for doctor to spend less than 30 seconds looking at my eyes and did not take time to answer my questions. I did not feel like I received appropriate care and I felt I was treated unprofessionally.

So very impressed with entire organization. From the receptionists at front desk as well as Samantha who completed the visual field testing and Nicki who completed the glaucoma pressure testing and a visual acuity test; everyone was extremely professional, knowledgeable as well as kind, patient, and caring to my 97 year old mother. Dr. Horkey had obviously looked at not only the current test results from his office personnel, but also was knowledgeable about the test results from my mother’s previous ophthalmologists in Indiana and Tennessee. He did not rush through the consultation and answered questions thoroughly. He was also very respectful of my mother, speaking to her and assuming she was capable of understanding (which is correct) everything he spoke about.

Dr. Horkey is excellent but I went to the Eagan location for this apt. I found the structure for initially checking in AND especially scheduling the next appt completely disappointing, frustrating, and unorganized. At the Maplewood location there is a separate location/desk dedicated to schedule the next appt. At Eagan the restrooms are outside the office. There are no signs within the clinic that I saw that indicated had to go out of the office. I had to ask! At the Maplewood location there is a restroom inside the office space. This is the 2nd time I’ve had to go to Eagan, and both times I consider the experience disappointing except for my time with Dr Horkey and technician doing the DMV visual test. I consider Dr Horkey exceptional in all aspects of his care.!!!

1st visit for my 88 year old mother - The Staff is lovely and Dr. Horkey was a great communicator. He was direct and factual about moms glaucoma and what she can expect going forward.

He didn’t even greet me or introduce himself. Because he was in sweat pants and a T-shirt I thought he was the person rooming me and not the doctor. He did not seem eager to spend more time than absolutely necessary.

After not having a glaucoma specialist at the St. Paul Eye Clinic, it is great to once again have a glaucoma specialist. For someone who hasn't been in practice is very knowledgeable, caring, and does not use a lot of jargon in his explanation. He is an exceptional physician. Marlena

Dr. Horkey was a pleasure to work with during my initial visit to St. Paul Eye Clinic. As a new patient, he asked very leading questions and listened to my responses carefully. His knowledge of glaucoma and cataracts put into layman's terms made everything much easier to understand. I left with more questions than answers! There was zero time for me to question the doctor on my symptoms. I can’t read, have double vision, dry eyes and many other symptoms. He failed to listen, seemed Irritated, and I was clearly bothersome to him! I’m still waiting to see how large my bill is! I’ll have to go to another clinic to get the answers I needed. Making the appointment and the person who actually did my eye exam were amazing. How sad to have a doctor who clearly doesn’t care about their patient! Sends them on their way without listening to them and tells them they don’t need glasses. Even a kindergartner knows if you can’t read you need glasses. I’d love to call the clinic but I’m sure I’d have to write another $250.00 check and this should have been resolved in the first visit. I could have gotten this exam from America’s Best for free.
