Dr. Denise Foran Billings, O.D. is a Board-Certified Optometrist. She was born and raised in Michigan, received her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Michigan College of Optometry (formerly Ferris State University, College of Optometry) magna cum laude in 1982.
Dr. Billings moved to Florida in 1984 and established her own practice in Port Charlotte in 1986. She was nominated and accepted as a Fellow in The American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in 1999. As an optometrist, she enjoys seeing patients of all ages! Dr. Billings has decades of experience seeing patients, fitting contact lenses and working with Low Vision patients. She treats each patient as she would a family member, with respect, compassion and kindness.

Dr. Billings husband, Rick, is also Dr. Billings. He is an optometrist in Sarasota. Their son, Beau, is studying to become an ophthalmologist. While their daughter, Elizabeth, is studying to become a Physician Assistant (PA) or Physical Therapist. The family loves to travel especially to Michigan to see family, Colorado to see friends, and internationally to gain ‘eye opening’ experiences.
Fun Facts
Dr. Billings has always been interested in eyes and started wearing glasses at the age of six. One of the first things she did when moving to Florida was to take scuba diving lessons. She and her husband, Rick, enjoyed many colorful underwater experiences. Dr. Billings also enjoys reading, artwork and cooking. Like Dr. Quigley, she also received the Betty Crocker award in High School.
Favorite Things
I love being outside whether it’s the beach, hiking in the woods, skiing in Colorado or pontoon boat riding in Michigan. Thankfully, my family loves the outdoors too! We spend a lot of our time together in the Great Outdoors!
