Dr Rion is an amazing man/dr. I just had my one yr check for a hip replacement. Absolutely no issues! He is knowledgeable and kind. Could not ask for a better combination!

Dr. Rion offered me as an option for hip surgery. I stand up straight, I do yoga swimming and work out at the gym and not in any great pain but gave me that as an option. Does he need some patients to do surgery on? I was very disappointed in the way he saw options for me when surgery should be the very last thing when you are in a lot of pain and or not able-bodied.
Dr. David Rion is a native of the Carolinas. Having grown up in both North and South Carolina, Dr. Rion went on to receive his medical education at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After he obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree, Dr. Rion completed both his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery as well as a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Rion also underwent specialized training in Orthopedic Trauma, completing his Trauma fellowship in Columbus at Grant Medical Center, Ohio’s busiest Level I Trauma Center.
Dr. Rion’s passion for total joint arthroplasty stems from the dramatic improvement in the quality of life his father, a Marine, enjoyed after undergoing a successful joint replacement. Witnessing his father’s transition from incapacitating pain to successful return to work as a commercial aviator left an ingrained impression on Dr. Rion that inspired him to pursue a career in Orthopedic Surgery. Fracture care is his other area of specialty interest. He takes great satisfaction in helping patients regain their function after suffering from debilitating joint conditions and traumatic injuries, and he is happy to have returned home to contribute to the wellbeing of his community as a member of Orthopedic Specialists of North Carolina.
