Dr. Poon is the best Retinal ophthalmologist in the world!! I was sent to him for an emergency in my rt eye and I believe he saved my sight. He did laser and cryosurgery on the many tears my eye had and it was successful. Now almost ten years later, I’m doing really well and it’s all because of his expertise and the staff at LI Vitreo Retinal Consultants in Hauppauge, NY. Susie At the front desk and Lizette who did my testing were wonderful. LThe entire staff is so kind and helpful and extremely patient. Dr. Poon has a very pleasant and kind personality and is always concerned with his patients. He really makes patients feel much more at ease and never anxious when he sees them. I highly recommend him to anyone needing an ophthalmologist.

Dr. David Poon graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Biology from Harvard College. He then earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland. After medical school, he completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute. Following his fellowship, Dr. Poon and his family moved back to New York to practice near his hometown.
Dr. Poon is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been awarded research grants from both the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute and the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Poon has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmic literature including research on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion.
