Dr. David Poon graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Biology from Harvard College. He then earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland. After medical school, he completed both his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute. Following his fellowship, Dr. Poon and his family moved back to New York to practice near his hometown.
Dr. Poon is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been awarded research grants from both the Johns Hopkins Hospital- Wilmer Eye Institute and the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Poon has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmic literature including research on age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion.
