Dr entered the room and never took a moment to introduce himself. He never told me what was wrong w/my eye . He had no verbal conversation w/me . Dr. Miller is a competent, thorough ophthalmologist. He answered my questions and gave me helpful suggestions. I am now used to my visits to Retina Associates lasting at least an hour. However, today I was a bit annoyed that after being told that i was next to see the doctor, Dr. Miller came out of the previous patient’s room, stood in the doorway of the room I was in, and chatted informally with the staff in the hall for a few minutes while I sat 5 feet away waiting to see him.

Dr. Miller is up to date with the latest medical breakthroughs. I have dealt with macular degeneration for approximately 15 years. He told me a year in advance that by my next appointment that there would be an injection available for my eye. He has given me hope and it has made me truly grateful.

Dr Miller is probably excellent at his specialty but his patient interaction is virtually non-existent. Any conversation has to be initiated by me, otherwise he'd never speak to me. He stops in, gives me an injection in my eye and leaves. If I don't ask about how my eye is doing, I'd likely never find out.

I met his assistant Carly today, who was responsible for numbing my eyes. My eyes were very dry so she even gave me some tears to help. I waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes to see Dr Miller. Once I “finally” made it to his exam room I waited another 5 minutes while I heard him “chatting” with his coworkers. My actual appointment with him was exactly 3 minutes! I thought he might have apologized to me for the long wait or how about asking me how my holidays were? I’ve been going to him for several years now because I think he’s probably good at what he does but he has zero patient interaction skills and if I’m totally honest I’d say he’s arrogant and full of himself. I can’t help but wonder what he would do if he went out to dinner and had to wait an hour and 45 minutes to be waited on. I’m certain he would walk out! Bring it down a notch doctor. We’re all equal and would like to be treated that way!
