Dr. Daniel Edwards completed his undergraduate studies at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania earning dual degrees in both Clinical Psychology and Creative Writing. He subsequently attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to complete his premedical studies and earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine wherein his final year he was awarded the Leonard Finkelstein, DO scholarship in Urology.
Dr. Edwards completed his internship in general surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and received training in general urologic surgery at Lankenau Medical Center/Bryn Mawr Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, wherein he served as chief resident and one of the founding members of the residency program. He performed additional graduate training in Pediatric Urology at Alfred I. DuPont/Nemours Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and Urologic Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York. In his final year of residency training he was awarded a fifty-thousand dollar grant to study the effects of regional carcinogens on bladder cancer among patients in Southeastern Pennsylvania, ultimately identifying patterns of disease related to industrial and environmental exposures in select groups of patients.
Dr. Edwards completed fellowship training in Urologic Oncology at Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina focusing on minimally invasive surgery for cancers of the bladder, kidney and prostate. His specific interests include robotic-assisted surgery of the bladder, minimally-invasive urinary diversions and renal-sparing surgery in the setting of complex tumors. He has authored over twenty peer-reviewed publications and presented at national meetings of the American Urologic Association and the Genitourinary Cancer Symposium of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Edwards is a member of the American Urological Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Philadelphia Urologic Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Berks County Medical Society and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is currently board-eligible for the American Board of Urology and achieved the highest percentile on part one of his board exams. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and joined the Center for Urologic Care of Berks County in the summer of 2021. He is joined in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania by his lovely wife, rambunctious son and frenetic Beagle. When not at work, he prefers to be found in the kitchen preparing a meal for family and friends or enjoying the tranquility of the great outdoors with a rod and reel in hand.
