Dr. Daniel Bouvier’s experience in high school began his interest in medicine.
“I became interested in medicine toward the end of high school when I took a class called anatomy and physiology. I was also an athlete in high school and college. I became interested in medicine first, then I started thinking about who takes care of the athletes. The natural progression got me to orthopedic surgery.”
Dr. Bouvier’s subspecialty is sports medicine.
“Knees and shoulders are what I do the most of. Rotator cuff repairs and ACL reconstructions are probably my two favorite things to do.”
With his focus on ACL reconstruction, Dr. Bouvier has become concerned about the increase in ACL tears in female athletes.
“ACL injuries in female athlete is a problem. We know how to fix them, we know how to do the surgery, but we need to do more in terms of prevention and aftercare. I’m really interested in trying to teach these kids how to move more properly, how to strengthen the right muscle groups so we can cut down on the incidents of young female athletes with ACL injuries.
