Dr. Cynthia Kooima is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopy and replacement. She is passionate about caring for competitive athletes, as well as patients looking to resume a painfree lifestyle. Dr. Kooima is currently the team physician for Gilbert High School and previously for the Arizona Derby Dames. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Kooima completed her orthopedic residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and trained under team physicians for the Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings. During her sports medicine fellowship at the Institute for Bone and Joint Disorders in Phoenix, Dr. Kooima focused on operative and non-operative treatment for a variety of athletic injuries. She is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Western Orthopedic Association.

Completely happy with my knee replacement. Doc was very thorough in explaining the procedure, the implant and the physical therapy expectations after surgery. Soooo thankful to Dr. Kooima for helping me get some of my youth back. I appreciate her and her team very much!
