My first follow up was disappointing to me because I wasn’t able to show Dr. Smucker 90 degrees on my knee. He was very encouraging and also indicated that I was doing well.

Saw his PA again who is great. Takes time to answer questions, friendly, runs on time.

Going for a hip surgery answered all my questions and more happy to say this will be my surgeon !!!

Gentleman in every sense of the word!

Dr. Smucker took his time and explained every step of the procedure I needed. He went through my MRI showing me exactly where my fracture was and what had to be done to fix it. He answered all my questions and I felt very confident knowing he would be doing my surgery.

he operated on my left knee yrs ago and since has been perfect, now for another issue, he's very upfront and forward, and doesn't sugar coat it, he tells you what you need to do and go from there and gives as many options as he can

Much better experience at this office. The doctor actually examined the back of my knee, which is the problem to begin with, instead of just looking at an x-ray of the front of my knee. I felt much better at the end of my visit. Good demeanor.

I had so much hope that we could at least diagnose what is causing my hip and knee pain. What is causing me so much pain from time to time that I will throw up. As someone that had cysts that ate away tissue for years and caused nerve damage to my left arm, when I say something hurts it really hurts. I was emotionally devastated when I left the office knowing that this is my life. This is what I have to look forward to for the next 30+ years of my life. Muscle spasms, pain, I my hip and knee, making uncomfortable sounds and sensations, numbness and I what hurt the most was feeling that he didn’t believe me. When I can put a heating pad uncovered on my bare skin for hours at a time and not feel it I think that needs to be looked into, but I’m fine because I am to young to have issues and there isn’t anything that can be done. This was the third orthopedic doctor I have been to.

Despite chronic pain, I was not ready to accept the need for total hip replacement. After my initial consultation with Dr. Smucker, I felt confident that now would be the right time. He took the time to explain in detail what was happening in my joint and the progressive deterioration taking place. Decision made, the process was clear and easy as his nurses and staff were in contact with me going over everything necessary to prepare for surgery. Two weeks now after surgery and I am glad I had it done. Sure, initially recovery was uncomfortable. But the pain of healing is much more manageable than the pain of Osteoarthritis. The Christiana nursing staff had me up and walking the day after surgery! Now, I see daily improvement. Dr. Smucker clearly likes the work he does, he is enthusiastic, positive and willing to listen to any concerns. His staff were always available to answer questions along the way. I would not hesitate to refer any to his practice. Many thanks! JL

Wish I went to him before 3 other doctors and got a knee replacement. He looked at my xrays and said they don't do surgery by xrays, its the patients. He explained that knee replacement doesn't give you your original knee back, I thought it would. Also the doctor who did my surgery never said that I should go for a xray and check up once a year. I will be going to Dr. Smucker once a year from now on.

Excellent as always. Dr Smucker is a wonderful man and Dr. He did a complete revision of my hip after someone else tried 3 times to replace my hip and just ended up broking my feamer bone. After being on cane for almost 3yrs Dr Smucker did my revision was home next day and no cane after less then 90 days!!! I'm 56yrs old he gave me my life back. Love him
