My appointment was with Dr Nelson but I met with his PA. He came in, shook my hand, never touched my knee or looked at my xray that was literally up on the screen behind him. I was there to find a new doctor for gel injections. I was so appalled at this first appointment that I decided not to go back and found another doctor. I've been an RN for 30 and this new patient visit was ridiculous.

Dr. Nelson did my rotator cuff surgery after a snowboarding accident and a lateral release in my knee 2 years later. The process was great both times and recovery quick. I did use Total Sports Therapy instead of the ortho however.

I did not understand how my marital status, my employment and insurance was important in the care of my daughter, I was completely confused. Also, I've been a mother of a child with Down’s Syndrome for 34 years and have never heard or been told they tend to have weak/loose knee caps…that was a first! Did not discuss X-rays taken in office or previous MRI results. I will say this visit was better than my previous visit at a different location with a different physician. Thank you for initiating therapy treatment. Doc mentioned Ibuprofen while in room, no RX was sent, ended up calling office to find out dosage of ibuprofen, MA Cole was rude and tells me doc was prescribing Diclofenac, NEVER was that mentioned to me while in consultation.

First visit with this physician. He didn't look at my xray or touch my knee. Just shook my hand and left. Went solely on what the PA told him. What an awful first impression. I was so surprised because he was highly recommended. Honestly, I was in shock at what little he did. I've been an RN for 30 years and know this was bad and embarrassing.

Fantastic doctor!

Words cannot express the confidence and appreciation I have for Dr Nelson. I have been seeing him for 7 years and he's repaired my rotator cuff, my torn meniscus and given me several hip injections after which, I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever. He's the best!

Very good to talk with he gave me several options

Extremely dismissive and unhelpful. Came back to see him for a knee issue that I had seen him years back for that had become noticeably worse, namely progressive balance issues, extreme muscle weakness and pain. He tested my strength on my affected side for 30 seconds and said my strength was normal without ever checking and comparing it with my unaffected side. Basically told me nothing was wrong after spending maybe a whole two minutes with me and me repeatedly telling him how much the knee issue was impairing my functionality. If you want help with whatever issue you are seeking assistance with, I would recommend seeing virtually any other ortho doctor besides him. He will most likely not listen to a word you’re saying and send you on your merry way home to develop bigger issues that he can then operate on in the future and profit off of you.

Very nice and knowledgeable! I’ve gone to Dr. Nelson since he was with the practice. My former doctor, Dr Scott Croft left to go fly fishing in MT. I wondered if the, then green, doctor could keep up with my ailments. As a former dancer, something is always on the fritz! He has always be a well informed professional! Now, it seems like everyone has figured this out too! The only problem is that it is hard to get booked…

Dr. Nelson is thorough and compassionate. We feel confident following his clinical advice.

Our first visit was disappointing as Dr. Nelson never even introduced himself. We think he wasn’t feeling all that good that day. The second appointment was better as Dr. Nelson took more time to explain things and even showed my daughter how to unattach and reattach my brace.

The entire OrthoArizona organization is first class. Very thorough, organized, they maximize the value of the time the physician spends with the patient. Dr. Nelson came highly recommended and I can see why.

I waited 45 minutes in the examination room, nobody came to inform me why the doctor was taking so long. when I went outside & asked to the clinical staff why the doctor was taking so long, the only response that I received was he's running a little bit late. I stated a little bit late, I've been waiting for almost 40 mins, the woman said he'll be there soon, after 45 minutes doctor came to the room didn't apologize or gave me any explanation of why he was running so late, the most upsetting thing is he spent only about 5-10 minutes with me. He didn't care at all , didn't take the time to show me my xrys they took earlier at his office. My physical therapist sent my report & didn't say anything about it, I had to ask him, if he received it & read it, his response was yes! No explanation or information about it. I felt he just wanted for me to be out of there asap.

He and his staff are very helpful and friendly too! I have one complaint which is ,the phone system is too hard to get in touch with someone quickly especially when you need directions to the office! Far too many options and then you have to leave a message, Not Good!!

He was very informative regarding my options and that was helpful in my decision making. He was very courteous and professional.
