Originally from the Northeast, Dr. Ackerman graduated with highest distinction from Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College. He went on to receive his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society for his academic excellence and leadership.
During medical school, Dr. Ackerman participated in multiple research projects with The Rothman Institute, presenting his work at both regional and national conferences. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Following residency, Dr. Ackerman pursued advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the renowned Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A former athlete himself, Dr. Ackerman developed his passion for orthopedics through a lifelong appreciation for movement, performance, and the importance of maintaining functional extremities. His practice philosophy centers on patient-centered care, emphasizing a holistic, individualized approach to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ackerman enjoys hiking, traveling, skiing, photography, and spending quality time with his wife and family.

Dr Colin Ackerman was very helpful in explaining about hand and the tender
I recommend anyone going through any surgery to choose Dr. ACKERMAN. He is exceptional in caring for the needs of the patient. DOCTORS LIKE MR. ACKERMAN IS VERY RARE THESE DAYS. IM SO GREATFUL HE WAS MY SURGEON. I had a CTR and DRF ORIF surgery. I had a complex break and he was able to realign the fragmented bones and throughly followed up during post OP. Im only 2 months post surgery today. Long road ahead. I recommend anyone seeking a caring diligent and precise doctor to schedule with Dr. Ackerman. . Thank you so much Dr. Ackerman
