His undergraduate degree was achieved at Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Ithaca, NY with a major in Biology (1984–1988). He has been honored with numerous awards during his professional and educational experience.
Dr. Kauffman is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He maintains an active membership in the Tennessee Medical Association. Additionally, he serves as a Reviewer for Spine Journal.
Prior to joining Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics in January 2013, Dr. Kauffman was in private practice in Lebanon, TN. He was formerly an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California at San Diego in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He previously practiced Spine Surgery and Orthopaedic Trauma as a member of The Orthopaedic Group, LLC in New Haven, CT. He also served as Clinical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well at the University of California at San Diego.
