I’d like to take this opportunity to provide you with a little background on my education, career path, and medical specialty treating patients primarily with neck/back pain.
Growing up in a small Midwestern town offered several influences, including the health practitioners I encountered. Their influence was strong enough that I decided to pursue a health care career after high school.
I attended Eastern Michigan University for three years in pursuit of a sports medicine degree, maintaining a G.P.A. of 4.0, before transferring to The National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology, and then Magna Cum Laude with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
I quickly realized that as a chiropractor my practice didn’t offer me the ability to extend the type of care for which I wanted to provide for my patients with muscle, joint and nerve pains. So back to school I went, this time in pursuit of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, at Saba University School of Medicine.
Following medical school, I completed my four-year Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation residency at Louisiana State University, where I also attained further Fellowship training in Pain Medicine. Today this training allows me to hold double board certifications in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
As a PM&R physician and interventional spine specialist, I am able to provide the types of musculoskeletal and conservative back and neck care I was missing as a chiropractor. I find it very satisfying to help people relieve pain and get back to the activities they enjoy.
To effectively treat spine conditions, you need to find the exact source of pain and that’s where my physical medicine diagnostic knowledge, skills, and experience come into play. My mission is to get patients back to living a functional, productive and happy life. Caring “bedside” manners, referrals for appropriate physical therapy, safe medication management, and precision x-ray-guided pain injections provide a combination that has yielded tremendous results and happy patients.
Though I sincerely love helping people relieve pain and return to their lives, my personal life is of the highest importance to me. My life wouldn’t be what it is without my beautiful wife, daughter, and rescue dog, “Nacho.”
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me and I look forward to providing the care that helps you return to the life you enjoy.
