Dr. Christopher Bookout, M.D., is an experienced, board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who has been in practice for 27 years, all in the Pensacola area. He treats a wide range of musculoskeletal problems, including sports injuries, arthritis, fractures and overuse injuries. He uses the latest nonoperative and operative techniques, including minimally invasive knee and shoulder arthroscopy. He also performs knee and shoulder replacements.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from Wayne State University. Dr. Bookout completed his General Surgery internship and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Bookout served in the US Navy and originally came to the area as a staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at Pensacola Naval Hospital. Prior to this, he served as a US Naval Flight Surgeon for Oceanographic Development Squadron Eight. As a team physician, Dr. Bookout has traveled extensively to Europe and Canada with USA Hockey. He has served as a team physician for Santa Rosa County Schools since 1999 and currently serves as the team physician for Milton and Pace High Schools.
I certainly appreciate Dr Bookout. He surgery on my left knee two years ago and it has been great since that surgery. My right knee is causing lots of pain and discomfort, but after X-rays he feels there is arthritis and he has given me a shot to ease the discomfort. I’m sure thankful for the wisdom and discernment he has!!!
Dr Bookout has been my orthopedic surgeon for a few years and is absolutely amazing. He is knowledgeable and always offers options in your care with clear expectations. I'd highly recommend him.

I believe it is of value to the patient when the surgeon takes 5 min days after to speak with their patient about his/her procedure. I know I was very thankful when Dr. Bookout did just that.
