Doctor Mango graduated received his medical degree from the State University of New York – Upstate Medical University. He then completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Weill Cornell Medical College – New York Presbyterian Hospital. He further completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute - University of California Los Angeles.
Doctor Mango has published and contributes as a reviewer to several major scientific journals. He has authored multiple textbook chapters. He has been involved in scientific research projects, which include pioneering the use of robotic ocular surgery, utilizing cutting-edge retinal imaging modalities, and evaluation of electronic advances in the field of retina. He has served as a section editor for over 20 years for the American Society of Retina Specialists. Dr. Mango has been a speaker and moderator at multiple national and international meetings. He has participated as a principal investigator and co-investigator in numerous clinical trials. Dr. Mango is an active member of numerous medical societies. He is a founder of the Vit-Buckle Society where he currently serves as a Board of Trustees Emeritus.
Doctor Mango has been awarded and recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor® and as a Super Doctor®. Additionally, he has been featured in Westchester Magazine and New York Magazine as a top doctor for several years. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, bird watching, and photography.
