Dr. Charles Nofsinger graduated from the Honors College at the University of Michigan with a BS in Computer Science. He then completed a master’s degree at Brown University in Computer Science. Dr. Nofsinger started a software consulting company while following the Harvard Post Baccalaureate program for medical school. During this time, he published several papers on supercomputing with colleagues from Digital Equipment Corporation.
After finishing his premedical requirements, he was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. He decided he was best suited for orthopedics and completed his residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. After residency, he did a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Alabama, taking care of several colleges in Alabama, including Auburn. His first job was as a team physician for Tulane in New Orleans. When Katrina hit New Orleans, he became a team physician at the University of South Florida. Dr. Nofsinger publishes research in Sports Medicine and currently holds positions at University of South Florida as an Associate Professor, the Fellowship Director of Sports Medicine and the Head Orthopaedic Team Physician.
Dr. Nofsinger treats shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle injuries for sports injuries, traumatic injuries, and arthritis.
In Dr. Nofsinger’s spare time, he plays guitar with friends and at open mic nights. He likes to surf, race cars, work on his race car, and enjoys traveling with his wife. They currently have two sons in college.
