Dr. Chad L. Carter, O.D, is Missouri Eye Institute’s optometrist assisting with primary eye care and post-operative care in Springfield, Branson and Joplin. Dr. Carter, a Springfield and Rogersville native, has practiced optometry since 1996 and is certified by the Missouri State Board of Optometry for therapeutic optometry.
Dr. Carter graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry from Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1992 from The University of Missouri-Columbia. He has served as an examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Missouri-St Louis School of Optometry and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.
Dr. Carter has been on many local and international mission trips to conduct eye exams and provide ophthalmic care in impoverished areas. Additionally, Dr. Carter served many years as a lead volunteer for Convoy of Hope in Springfield. His interests outside of eye care include photography, hiking, and travel.
Dr. Carter is well trained in anterior and posterior segment disease management. Additionally, Dr. Carter provides care in the diagnosis and treatment of dry eye syndrome, and provides high quality primary medical eye care and post-operative care.

Very personable
Dr Carter explains what is happening with my eyes and the effects of the dryness. We have some progress which is a relief, but he doesn’t stop there. He continues to see what works for my eyes and eliminates the drops that I no longer need. I am hopeful and encouraged about my vision. It is a journey and I’m grateful for Dr Carter and Dr Osborne.
Mr Carter is professional and extremely friendly and compassionate. Easy to understand and fully explained my condition to me.

I was treated the way I treat people! The staff there are some of the nicest people, I've ever been around! I think Chad is a great doctor! I enjoy my visits and the people helping me! Thank you! 🦅😍🐺
Dr Carter was very pleasant and listened to our concerns. He said I can have my right eye done as soon as possible but the scheduler would not even talk to us and we could hear her from the hall saying we don't have a day available and I have talked to those people several times. I just want to get my other eye done so I can get glasses that work for me.

I wa schedule twice to see this physician for my annual eye exam , both times it was moved. Originally Jan, then March now july. I’ll,find some one else
