Dr. Carson Rider is originally from McKenzie, TN. He did his orthopaedic residency at Campbell Clinic and completed his fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he focused on foot and ankle surgeries in New York, NY. Dr. Rider’s main focus areas are Total Ankle Replacement in the outpatient setting, foot and ankle sports surgery that focuses on Achilles tendon, ruptures and reconstruction, ankle sprains, and fractures. He has treated many athletes during his tenure in New York, including the Brooklyn Nets. Dr. Rider graduated at the top of his class from medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. During his residency, he was a recipient of the Campbell Foundation’s Molly Shumate Community Service Scholarship for a Guatemala mission as well as the American Orthopaedic Association Resident Leadership Award. Dr. Rider has experience covering Fayette Academy, Bolton High School, and Briarcrest’s high school football teams.
Dr. Rider has published numerous articles on foot and ankle disorders and surgical techniques in prestigious journals and publications such as the American Orthopadic Foot and Ankle Society Journal and the Campbell Orthoapedic Journal.
Dr. Rider lives in Memphis with his wife and two kids. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, competitive shotgun shooting – sporting clays, American/International trap & skeet, and golf.

Dr Rider was an excellent Doctor
Dr. Carson Rider has an outstanding bedside manner. He explained our options in regard to my ankle. Everyone there was professional, helpful and we highly recommend Dr. Rider, if you need ankle surgery. 10/10 Dr. Rider made my husband and I feel welcomed. We are confident after our appointment with Dr. Rider about my surgery procedure. We were given excellent information regarding being prepared for my surgery next week. Dr Rider is outstanding in his field. I rest easy knowing I’ve had one surgery and he is doing my next surgery. A+
Dr Rider has been a great surgeon to work with for my foot surgery. His calm demeanor and easy explanations made surgery and recovery an easier experience.
Dr. Carson was a great surgeon and was able to patch up my trimal fracture. The clinic in general has some work to do on communication. I have had several occasions where communications on scheduling has impacted me, and medical documentation has been hard to get or unclear on how it needs to be requested. I would recommend over-communicated and always asking questions to verify and asking for it in writing where applicable.
Dr. Carson is knowledgeable, polite, explains the process and results well, and provides good care. My interactions with him have been very good and I appreciate his approach in explaining the process thoroughly.
