Dr. Spivak received his medical degree from the University of Winnipeg in Canada. He continued his training at the University of Saskatchewan, where he completed his residency in Neurological Surgery. He then finished a Complex Spine and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center and Minimal Invasive Spine Surgery and Interventional and Surgical Pain Management at Semmes-Murphey Neurologic and Spine Institute in Memphis, TN.
Dr. Spivak is a member of numerous prestigious medical organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He speaks and trains at many courses and conferences across the world as well.
His interest in clinical research has led to publications in the Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences and the Journal of Neurosurgery, as well as numerous presentations at national scientific meetings including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences.
He has trained medical students and residents and held faculty positions at Stanford Medical School, Albany Medical School and Columbia Medical School. He is a consultant for JOIMAX (JOIned Minimal ACCess Technologies) and enjoys educating and training surgeons in endoscopic treatment of spinal disorders.

He takes his time talking and explaining your situation. He is easy to get along with. Like him a lot.
Attentive, detail oriented, conservative approach to necessary treatments as well as being transparent about surgical procedures and their benefits in relation to the specific patient. I saw Dr. Spivak as a second opinion as the prior neurosurgeon was advocating for a spinal surgery that would not have been beneficial given my state. Honesty and integrity are evident. I highly recommend Dr. Spivak as first opinion.
I’ve been seeing Dr Spivak for about 2 years he’s done 2 surgical procedures on my cervical and has been caring for me as my Pain Management physician. He is very caring and takes the time to listen to you I’ve never felt rushed . The nurses are so kind and caring they’ve helped me many times with appointments and prescriptions and just make you feel so comfortable . I would highly recommend Dr Spivak to anyone looking for a caring Pain Management and surgical specialist
