Following residency training in orthopedic surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dr. Burns pursued advanced fellowship training in orthopedic trauma at the University of Kentucky and in spine surgery through the Harvard Combined Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Since 2017, Dr. Burns has served patients clinically and trained residents as an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in the Indiana University School of Medicine. His clinical expertise spans complex spine surgery and high-level orthopedic trauma care, with a commitment to advancing education and surgical excellence. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for both academic achievement and leadership, reflecting his dedication to improving outcomes for patients and mentoring the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
