Dr. Calvin Chen is a fellowship-trained, board-certified interventional pain specialist and physiatrist. He completed his fellowship in Advanced Interventional Pain Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell in Manhasset, NY where he served as chief resident. Dr. Chen obtained his medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL where he majored in Exercise Physiology with minors in Chemistry and Sports Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Chen has authored several peer-reviewed journal publications on various pain-related topics and has presented his findings in academic conferences nationwide. Dr. Chen is active with many academic societies and is affiliated with the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM), American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), among others.
A health buff and beach lover, Dr. Chen had once worked as a certified personal trainer and a New York State lifeguard prior to pursuing a career in medicine. In addition to English, he speaks conversational Chinese (Mandarin). In his OR, you will hear chill/soft pop and country music playing in the background.

Doctor Chen is a very nice and caring person. He has a very good personality and very professional knowledgeable. I feel very comfortable in his care.
The doctor is very skilled considerate and provides information regarding procedural as he performs his procedure. Talking to the staff. He is very well liked. I would recommend him to anyone that wants a good doctor.
