Dr Bean great surgeon I had a real bad ankle foot break, and he did a great job.

Treat arthritis in base of 2 big toes with injections. Very warm and personable and made injections tolerable . Gave information on condition and recommendation for brand of shoe to get and listened intently.

Dr. Bryan Bean realized he wanted to become an orthopaedic surgeon during his 3rd year of medical school. He entered medical school with an early interest in oncology but after starting surgical rotations, he gravitated toward orthopaedics. Observing orthopaedic patients progress rapidly through all phases from diagnosis to treatment to recovery and the corresponding patient-physician relationship was extremely satisfying.

Dr. Bean feels that greatest moments professionally come from interactions with his patients. He once treated a patient seeking a fifth opinion that had been written off by many of her previous providers. He was able to uncover a part of her story that others had not seen or spent the time to understand, and this ultimately led to her diagnosis and successful treatment.

His road to a career in medicine was not traditional.
“Prior to medical school I had a career as a chemical engineer at a biotechnology company, Genentech, that made many life-saving and life-altering medicines. My desire to be closer to the patient-side of medicine led me to medical school.”
Clinical Interests Dr. Bean’s subspecialty is foot & ankle orthopaedics. He enjoys a diverse practice treating a variety of conditions. He particularly enjoys treating traumatic injuries, sports injuries, tendon disorders, complex deformity, revision procedures, and arthritis of the foot & ankle (including ankle replacements), but he enjoys treatment of all foot and ankle conditions, including bunions, hammertoes, and the manifestations of diabetes.
Education and Training Dr. Bean attended the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA and completed his orthopaedic residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He completed the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital an affiliate of Georgetown University and Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

Personal: I am first and foremost a dedicated husband and father of two children, my six year old daughter and nine year old son. I try to be a fun dad and remain engaged in their education and activities.
Hobbies and Interests: Dr. Bean is an avid outdoorsman and enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing and all kinds of other outdoor activities. He’s played many sports throughout the years and still enjoys playing basketball, baseball and lacrosse. Now that he’s settled into New England, he would like to spend more time skiing and playing hockey. Coming from the West Coast, he enjoys watching PAC-12 sports, Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners games. At one point he worked on nuclear submarines as a civilian for the Navy in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He lived 5 minutes from the beach and learned to surf.
