Made some unprofessional comments about women, things like “you guys (women) are already clumsy so I don’t want you wearing flip flops in the summer so you don’t fall and hurt the baby”. Kept referring to me or women as “you guys”. Didn’t seem like he read my chart (that was in his hand) as he kept making comments or saying things that did not pertain to my situation.

Dr. Benninger made sure to share with us at the beginning of our visit that he is retiring soon and is no longer delivering babies. He also shared that since he is so close to retirement he doesn’t have to take on a lot of patients and can pay close attention to the ones he has, that was not anywhere close to my experience. I was having a lot of bleeding and this is my first pregnancy. I had to continually call his office to get next steps for how to figure out why I was still bleeding and having so much pain. It ended up being ectopic. There was never a time that Benninger called to help through next steps. I had an ultrasound and they paged him twice over the intercom and he still did not show up. Thank god for Dr. A. who took over that day.
