Really listens and answers all questions in a way that is easy to understand. Great bedside (chair side) manner. And most importantly, what he recommended for treatment for my knee worked!

I waited 2 weeks to see a specialist, in great pain of course.Only to be told he was a surgeon but he would schedule me with a hand specialist. So why did I pay $150.00 co pay with my insurance to receive a script I already had, meloxocam or Mobic, which does does come anywhere close to knocking the edge off much less relieving the pain. I was in worse shape when I left his office than I was when I arrived.

He attended Newton-Conover High School and went on to graduate from Lenoir-Rhyne University with degrees in biology and chemistry. Dr. Sullivan completed his medical degree at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa. He went on to complete his orthopedic training at the OhioHealth Orthopedic Residency Program, which consisted of multiple hospitals including Grant Medical Center, a level one trauma center. After finishing his general orthopedic training, he went on to further subspecialize in orthopedic sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While completing his fellowship, he was a team physician for the Houston SaberCats professional rugby team. After completing his training, he worked in Snellville, Georgia. There he was a team physician for the Gwinnett Gladiators professional hockey team in the ECHL.
His practice includes general orthopedics with specialty training in sports medicine. He enjoys working with athletes of all ages and walks of life. His practice revolves around his patient’s goals. “I want to get people back to doing the activities they enjoy. It is important to stay active. My goal is to treat patients’ orthopedic issues so they can return to their favorite activity, whether it be getting a professional athlete back to their sport or a recreational golfer back to walking the course without pain.” He has special interest in shoulder and knee surgeries and performs minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures and total joint replacements.
Dr. Sullivan is thrilled to be back in his hometown and excited to serve the community he was raised in. In his spare time, you can find Dr. Sullivan enjoying our community’s local restaurants, farmers markets, and parks with his wife and two young boys. He also enjoys hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and spending time on the lake with his family.
