Dr. Schiffman’s academic journey is marked by excellence and a deep passion for healthcare. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned a degree in Biology while competing as a student athlete on the varsity football team. Driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact in medicine, he pursued his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, graduating with distinction. Further honing his expertise, Dr. Schiffman completed a rigorous residency program in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Washington, where he trained under some of the leading experts in his field. His dedication to continuous learning led him to pursue fellowship training in Hand and Microsurgery at the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Brett Schiffman is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Dr. Schiffman has advanced training in hand and microsurgery with expertise in upper extremity trauma and complex fractures, work and sports-related injuries, degenerative and arthritic conditions, as well as nerve and vascular conditions. He has published on topics including complex elbow and forearm trauma, elbow instability, elbow MRI utilization, bone healing, and vitamin D metabolism. He has previously been the team physician for Palatine High School varsity football in Illinois.
Dr. Schiffman specializes in providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population. Known for his thoughtful diagnostic approach and patient-centered care, Dr. Schiffman works collaboratively with patients to develop tailored treatment plans that best address their unique needs.
When not treating patients, Dr. Schiffman enjoys spending time with his son, traveling and cooking. His hobbies include golf, running/cycling and cheering for Chicago sports teams.
