He went on to serve as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia and shortly thereafter moved back to California where he opened his own private practice. Along with his involvement in multiple research studies, he has also served as ophthalmology chairman at Western Medical Center, Saddleback Hospital, and Hoag Hospital. Amongst his many accomplishments his most regarded is being the first physician in Orange County to utilize silicone oil for complex retinal detachment repair, perfluorocarbon liquids for retinal tears, and radioactive plaques for choroid melanoma.
