Dr. Bliss E. O’Bryhim, MD, PhD is a specialist in the medical and surgical treatment of the vitreous, retina, diabetic eye diseases and cataract surgery.
A native of Kansas, Dr. O’Bryhim earned her undergraduate degree at Baker University. Dr. O’Bryhim earned a dual medical degree/PhD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed a one-year internship from St. Luke’s Hospital and a three-year residency at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. O’Bryhim completed her formal training with a fellowship in retinal disease and vitrectomy surgery at Washington University.
Dr. O’Bryhim is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is licensed to practice medicine in Nebraska and Iowa.

Dr O’Bryhim has always been very professional, she has been very thorough my cataract surgery and laser procedures! She has listened and answered my questions! It has been a gift and a blessing, to have her do the surgery and laser procedures for me! The MEC staff have always been professional and helpful at all times! I had a visit in April during a tornado warning and all safety precautions were taken! Great job! Thank you all!
Good listener and good at explaining what she's seeing and the treatment course. Very efficient and compassionate.
Dr. O'Bryhim is very professional, gives me time ask questions, is calm( which makes me calm) she is very pleasant, and very lucky for me, was willing to squeeze me into an appointment when I missed my original appointment due to a family emergency. I like her and her nature, and would suggest her to anyone i know.
My regular Dr was out of the office & I was pleased to met Dr O’Bryhim. I was very comfortable with how she handled my care & made me feel very comfortable.
