Dr. Blair Townsend, M.D., M.B.A., is a board-certified urologist. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he also earned his M.B.A. at the Darden School. He completed medical school at George Washington University and his urology residency at Carolinas Medical Center. He fulfilled a robotic urologic oncology fellowship at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California.

Dr. Townsend completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where he also earned his Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business. He received his Medical Degree from the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, earning the Paul DeWitt Award in Surgery.
He completed his urology residency at Carolinas Medical Center, Atrium Health, where he received the Resident Humanitarian Award from the Southeast Section of the AUA and the Resident Award for Excellence in Medical Student Education. Dr. Townsend completed his subspecialty fellowship in Robotic Urologic Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California.
Dr. Townsend maintains an active record of service in the United States Navy. His training includes Officer Development School, the Naval Undersea Medical Institute, and the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center. He earned qualifications as a Dive and Undersea Medical Officer and a Submarine Medical Officer, and he received the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Promoted to Commander in 2024, he serves as the Commander of Undersea Medicine, Diving & Salvage/EOD for the Navy Reserves.
Certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Townsend focuses on advanced prostate cancer and urologic oncology. He utilizes da Vinci robotic surgical platforms to perform robotic radical prostatectomies, partial and radical nephrectomies, and urologic reconstruction surgeries.
His general urology practice includes treatment for kidney stones, vasectomies with optional mobile anesthesia, and BPH management via Rezūm and robotic simple prostatectomy. For men’s health, he addresses erectile dysfunction using penile implants, and manages overactive bladder and incontinence through urinary sphincters, Botox injections, and Interstim therapies.
He holds professional memberships in the American Urological Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of Government Service Urologists.
