Dr Bick is very thorough, and knowledgeable. I am so glad I was referred to him after years of pancreatitis and bleeding ulcers. He is also very kind, and listens to everything you have to tell him.

Dr. Bick & the entire staff did a wonderful job. I was completely at ease from the time I walked in the facility until I walked out. Never ANY pain from the IV placement to the procedure itself. They were amazing! I would have given them a 10 star rating if it was available!

Dr. Benjamin L. Bick, M.D. joined Rockford Gastroenterology Associates in 2022. Dr. Bick received his combined Bachelor’s Degree in Bioengineering and Medical Degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford as part of the Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions in medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic (Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education). He then completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where he also served as the Chief Fellow for the program. He then completed an additional fellowship in Advanced Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy at Indiana University under the tutelage of one of the original founders of ERCP in North America. He also received a Masters Degree in Clinical Research at Indiana University. Before coming to Rockford, he was a physician at Indiana University and the Director of the Pancreatic Duct Stone Program. Dr. Bick is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Bick has a broad interest in digestive disease and endoscopy, with special interests in biliary disease, pancreatic diseases, and gastrointestinal oncology. He is experienced in managing complex pancreatitis including chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic necrosis. He has advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with fine needle aspiration/biopsy (FNA/FNB), celiac plexus block/neurolysis, sphincter of Oddi manometry, biliary and pancreatic ductoscopy, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) and intraductal lithotripsy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and endoscopic drainage/necrosectomy. Dr. Bick has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and has authored a book chapter on chronic pancreatitis. He is a recipient of a Young Investigator Award from the American Pancreatic Association and has mentored multiple award winners at national gastroenterology meetings. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Bick is an active member of the medical staff at UW Health Rockford Hospital and OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. His interests outside of medicine include music (he plays piano, cello, and guitar), Chicago sports, Asian culture, gaming, and spending time with family.
