Dr. Ben Houle is the President of Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois and specializes in Sports Medicine and treatment of the injured athlete. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Houle joined the Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois in 1998, following the completion of a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgery at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
Dr. Houle is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). He has participated in numerous Orthopaedic research projects and publications.
Dr. Houle devotes his practice to the treatment of injured athletes and the promotion of safety in sporting activities. He assisted in the development of the weekly Sports Clinic at the Center and has served as a Team Physician for the Mt.Vernon Township High School.
Dr. Ben Houle is one of few physicians in Illinois offering this new knee replacement procedure from VERILAST which is expected to provide wear performance for 30 years of actual use under typical conditions.

Dr Houle is the best.....
He was okay, first time we met also. Spent more time with the nurse a radiology techs. He was short a to the point. I had thought I would have been a candidate for knee surgeries, but he said no. I guess I was just used to seeing my previous orthopaedic, Dr Blank, Since I moved to Herrin I had to find all new doctors.
They were very busy but waiting time was not bad at all and everyone was very professional.

Dr Houle has provided my orthopedic care for two total knee replacements as well as management of my spinal care along with Nataha Rohdes since 2022. If I could I would give more than 5 stars.
First visit and a little worried but he put me at ease right away. Very friendly and seems to care about what you are going thru.
Outstanding orthopedic doctor. Willing to listen and explain in layman's terms his diagnosis and possible remedies. No use to travel elsewhere.
I went to Washington Co Hospital clinic for a 2:15 appointment. I arrived at 1:45 and checked in, I was put in an exam room at 2:06 and exactly one hour later I opened the door and asked if they had forgotten me, I could hear the doctor talking to patients and I know he saw at least four patients while I sat in the exam room waiting. Apparently, he either didn’t want to see me or they don’t have the concept that you alternate exams rooms, not just keep going into one exam room. I got tired of waiting so I left,
