Dr. Swan earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, where she was a member of the Rural Medicine Education Program. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Swan completed her Family Medicine Residency at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where she provided full-scope primary care, including inpatient and outpatient care for both adult and pediatric patients. Her training included extensive procedural skills and women’s health. During her residency, Dr. Swan actively participated in quality improvement projects, leading initiatives to increase PHQ9 screening rates.
Dr. Swan is a member of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Swan has taken on several leadership roles, including participating in the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Alumni Mentorship Initiative, the Program Evaluation Committee, and the Blood Transfusion Committee at Memorial Hospital. She has also served on the E. Blair Warner Recruiting Committee and as the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians Resident Liaison.
Dr. Swan is passionate about mentoring the next generation of medical professionals. She serves as a Pre-Med Mentor at Memorial Family Medicine Residency, a Surgical Clerkship Tutor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, and has been involved in the Leader 2 Leader Mentorship Program and as a Lab Assistant and Pre-Med Tutor at American International College.
Dr. Swan grew up in Belvidere, Illinois, where she developed a love for the outdoors and spending time with her family. She enjoys biking, fishing, and taking her dog for walks around the neighborhood. Dr. Swan is passionate about preventive care, health literacy, and rural medicine. She also loves trying new recipes and cooking for her loved ones.
