Biography:
From a small, rural town in Bertie County, NC, Dr. Gilchrist, high school class valedictorian, graduated with a well-formulated philosophy regarding the health and well being of the citizens of her surrounding communities. Her desire to improve the standard of life of others, and the lack of quality medical care, contributed significantly to her career goal to become a medical doctor.
In pursuit of her goal, she completed undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Science. After graduation, she was employed at Duke University Medical Center as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) specialist for a short period before entering medical school at The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Dr. Gilchrist also completed a residency in Pediatrics at Vidant Medical Center/The Brody School of Medicine.
Allergy and Immunology was nurtured while completing rotations with an engaging community allergist in Greenville, NC, and while completing a four-week rotation at USF in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Gilchrist comes to Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center after completing a fellowship in Allergy-Immunology at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. She embraces continuous study to improve the quality of life for her patients by providing them the best and most appropriate medical care.

My first visit with Dr. Gilchrist was a great experience, no complaints. Dr. Gilchrist was personable, professional, and genuinely interested in getting to know me and my medical history. She listened, took notes, and made me feel comfortable sharing both personal and health concerns. She's already set up my allergy care plan after a thorough review of my medical chart from my previous allergist in Florida. I feel confident knowing I can reach out when needed. I truly believe I’ve found my new medical home here in NC. I look forward to continued care. Thank You.
